George Edwards III
Partner
George Edwards III is a founder and partner at Edwards Sutarwalla Samani LLP, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation, business disputes, and strategic transactional matters. He represents entrepreneurs, growth-stage companies, and established businesses in high-value conflicts and sophisticated deal structures across industries including energy, real estate, finance, and professional services.
Born and raised in Houston, George brings a uniquely analytical and results-driven perspective to client advocacy. He earned a Chemistry degree from Rice University and a J.D. from Howard University School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the law school’s legal newspaper. His early career was shaped at The Gallagher Law Firm, with a focus on large-scale environmental and toxic tort litigation, followed by tenure at Phillips Akers, P.C., a respected Houston litigation boutique.
George founded his own firm in 2014 before co-founding ESS, where he now helps clients navigate complex contract disputes, internal corporate conflicts, trade secret litigation, and risk-conscious business transactions. In addition to litigation, George frequently advises businesses on governance, strategic partnerships, and restructuring. He has served in leadership roles on the State Bar of Texas Web Services and Grievance Committees, and was a member of the State Bar Professionalism Committee. He is currently a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Deeply committed to service and equity, George is a former Director of the Houston Young Lawyers Association, a Fellow of the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation, and an inaugural member of the State Bar of Texas Leadership SBOT, which focuses on increasing diversity in legal leadership. He also serves as guardian ad litem in injury cases involving minors and is a vocal advocate for child protection and community justice. George is a Sustaining Member of the Harris County Democratic Party and an active member of the Harris County Democratic Lawyers Association.
In his free time, George enjoys traveling the world and exploring fiction — always looking for the next great story or adventure.
